Groupe Renault aims to provide socially responsible mobility solutions with an innovative entrepreneurial approach

Social entrepreneurship

Through its commitment to inclusion, Groupe Renault aims to provide socially responsible mobility solutions with an innovative entrepreneurial approach. Thus, we invest in projects with high social impact, as part of our Social Entrepreneurship program initiated in France. The goal is to facilitate access to people’s mobility to promote integration and the return to work. An entrepreneurial approach also supported by our employees that we wish to extend to each country where we are located.

When mobility rhymes with social responsibility

In 2012, Renault launched the first social entrepreneurship initiative kicked off by a car manufacturer.
It is based on 3 main actions:

Providing assistance

with the solidarity garages

Investing

with the investment company Invest

Lending support

with the “Movement for Social*Business Impact”.

Providing assistance to facilitate mobility

Mobility is a key factor in employability. In order to help people who need a car to get to work but cannot afford to use or buy one, Groupe Renault has launched the network of Renault Solidarity Garages. In total, nearly 360 volunteer Renault garages, spread all over France, offer products and services to help low-income individuals.

Banding together to act

In France, Groupe Renault has strengthened this system by signing agreements with promoting partners (Resto du cœur, Pôle emploi, La Poste, etc.) and by creating, in 2017, a support and advice platform. Volunteers, mostly employees or retirees of Groupe Renault, provide their expertise and attentiveness to advise and support those interested in one of the offers. The Renault Solidarity Garages system should be extended to other countries in the near future.

Investing and getting involved for others

In terms of mobility support, ideas are not lacking. On the other hand, on the financing side, some entrepreneurs may have difficulties in carrying out their project. Therefore in 2012, the Group created its investment company Invest. With its €5 million in capital, it has already provided support and assistance to 12 companies selected for their mobility solutions for those in need.

We want to converge entrepreneurship and social responsibility. We value this approach, it is a source of innovation. Our desire:
to be in contact with committed entrepreneurs and help them develop projects based on sustainable mobility.

Volunteering: when employees put their expertise at the service of entrepreneurship

Invest is also a human support. Thus, for each project, a volunteer provides his or her expertise. Because beyond the financial contribution, the Invest team and the volunteers also ensure a regular follow-up and facilitate linking up with the Group’s experts who are useful to the projects.

Volunteers help implement synergy and participate in the development of supported projects to maximize their social impact.

FOCUS ON... WIMOOV

Among the actions supported by Invest, we find those of the Wimoov association. Through its 25 platforms, Wimoov offers inclusive mobility for all people, including the most disadvantaged. According to its activity report, in 2016, Wimoov supported 10,952 people in professional integration. Of these, 46% obtained a job or training, or remained employed.

Supporting research and universities

To support its socially responsible mobility program, the Group is also working hand in hand with education and research. Groupe Renault is a co-founder of the “Movement for Social*Business Impact. This initiative is based on research and education conducted by the HEC Society & Organizations Center and on the action carried out by the Action Tank Entreprise et Pauvreté. The purpose of this program is to bring together academics, businesses, governments, leaders of non-profit organizations and to co-build new solutions that have an impact on reducing global poverty.
