Casablanca Plant (SOMACA)

Founded in 1959, SOMACA is a cornerstone of Morocco’s automotive industry and a pioneering plant in the country’s industrial development. Initially dedicated to assembling vehicles for the local market, SOMACA has continuously adapted and renewed itself through an ongoing transformation approach. The production of several iconic models, such as the Renault 4 and Renault 12, marked the plant’s early decades and helped establish it as a symbol of Moroccan industrialization and expertise, ranking among the Group’s most efficient factories.

Today, the plant exports two-thirds of its production to 70 destinations worldwide, and its output has grown from 10,000 units in 2005 to a record of nearly 100,000 vehicles expected by the end of 2024. With the arrival of the Renault Kardian, SOMACA is entering a new phase in its transformation, integrating new technologies and strengthening the skills of its workforce.
