Electricity - Douai Plant
In more than 50 years of history, 11 million vehicles and 22 different models have rolled off the production lines of the Douai Manufacture (in Northern France). Since 2020, the site has undergone a major transformation to accommodate electric vehicles, with a new flexible standard line equipped with two modular platforms AmpR‑Small (segment A) and AmpR‑Medium (segment C) as well as a new workshop dedicated to battery assembly.
Today, the site produces on the same production line, Mégane E‑Tech, Scénic E‑Tech Electric (voted Car of the Year 2024), R5 E‑Tech Electric and A290 (voted Cars of the Year 2025).
Douai is part of the Ampere Electricity Hub, a unique industrial cluster and center of operational excellence alongside Maubeuge and Ruitz, leveraging a fully integrated ecosystem that combines efficiency and advanced technology across the entire electric vehicle value chain.

Dedicated to the manufacturing of the future electric vehicles of the brand with the diamond-shaped logo, the plant is fully in line with the development of sustainable mobility for all. Through the implementation of its environmental policy, the plant has also contributed, daily, to the reduction of its carbon footprint and the health impacts of its activities.

Renault 5 E-Tech electric: Car of the Year 2025
Renault 5 E-Tech Electric, manufactured at the Douai plant, has been awarded the prestigious title of ‘Car of the Year 2025’ by the European COTY ‘Car of the Year’ jury. A double win for Renault after the victory of Scénic E-Tech Electric in 2024. Renault 5 E-Tech Electric becomes the brand’s eighth vehicle to win the trophy.’

- 1993: the Renault plant of Douai becomes the Georges-Besse plant.
- 1995/2001: manufacturing of Mégane.
- 1996/2002: manufacturing of Scénic.
- 1997: The Georges-Besse plant becomes a SNC (general partnership).
- 1999: plant certified ISO 14001.
- 2003/ 2009: manufacturing of Scénic II and Mégane II coupé cabriolet.
- 2004: manufacturing of Grand Scénic begins. Yearly record: 469,510 vehicles manufactured.
- 2009/2016: production of Scénic III and Grand Scénic III.
- 2010/2015: production of Mégane III Coupé-Cabriolet.
- 2015/2016: launch of Espace V, Talisman, Talisman Estate, Scénic and Grand Scénic IV.
- 2017: 10 millions vehicles produced.
- 2018: announcement of the 2021 launch of the electric platform.
- 2020: Transformation of the plant to accommodate the CMF-EV modular platform dedicated to the electric.
- 2022: The Renault ElectriCity legal entity to which the Douai plant belongs is officially operational as of 01 January 2022.
- 2023: On 1 November 2023, the creation of Ampère, a European "pure player" dedicated to electric vehicles and software, took effect. The Manufacture de Douai is one of the four industrial sites of this new entity.
- 2024: Launch of Scenic E‑Tech Electric, Renault 5 E‑Tech Electric, and A290 (Cars of the Year 2025).
- 2025: Launch of Eclipse Cross (Mitsubishi) and Nissan Micra.
