Mioveni Plant (DACIA)

Inaugurated in 1968 and acquired by Renault Group in 1999, the Mioveni plant is the historic production site for the Dacia brand. The site has become a benchmark industrial complex comprising a body-assembly unit, a chassis unit and a logistics platform for the Renault Group. It produces vehicles for the Global Access programme, a pillar of the Group's internationalisation strategy. 90% of vehicles produced are exported.

In 2025, the Mioveni plant launches the production of the Bigster.
Dacia (the leading brand in the B‑segment in Europe) is expanding its lineup by moving into the upper segment. This strategic push becomes a reality today with the launch of the Bigster, which brings the brand’s well‑known values to the compact SUV segment: essential yet stylish, eco‑responsible, robust, and outdoor‑oriented. The new Dacia Bigster will be produced exclusively at the Mioveni plant.
Dacia Bigster is designed to meet the specific expectations of customers in a continuously growing market segment. With the new Bigster, Dacia stays true to its values by offering the best value for money in the compact SUV segment.

  • 1968: creation of the Dacia brand and inauguration of the Mioveni plant in August; production of the first R-8 under the name Dacia 1100.
  • 1969: manufacturing of the Dacia 1300 saloon (Renault 12) begins.
  • 1973: manufacturing of the Dacia 1300 estate begins.
  • 1976: Dacia Pick-up, first vehicle autonomously produced.
  • 1983: manufacturing of the Dacia 1302 and 1304 Drop-Side begins.
  • 1990: manufacturing of the Dacia 1325 Liberta 5-door begins.
  • 1992: manufacturing of the Dacia 1307 and 1309 Double Cab begins.
  • 1995: restructuring of Auto Dacia into seven subsidiaries. Dacia Nova, first model wholly Romanian-designed.
  • 1999: Renault takes a 51% controlling interest in Dacia.
  • 2000: Renault raises its stake to 73.29% and then to 80.14%. Manufacturing of the SuperNova with a Renault powertrain.
  • 2001: Renault raises its stake to 92.72%.
  • 2002: manufacturing of the diesel Pick-up range (with Renault F8Q engine).
  • 2003: Renault raises its stake to 99%. Manufacturing of Solenza begins.
  • 2004: june 2: Unveiling of Logan.
  • 2005: Solenza production discontinued.
  • 2009: launch of Sandero Stepway.
  • 2010: launch of  Dacia Duster in Geneva Motorshow. Millionth Logan manufactured.
  • 2014: Dacia celebrates its 15 years within the group Renault and the 10 years of Logan in Romania.
  • 2016: Production of Logan 2, Logan 2 MCV, Sandero 2 and Sandero Stepway 2.
  • 2017: production of Logan MCV Stepway and Dacia Duster 2. 
  • 2018: Dacia and the Mioveni factory celebrate their 50th Anniversary.
  • 2020: 5 million vehicles produced since Dacia was acquired by Renault Group.
    Launch of the new Logan 3, Sandero 3 and Sandero Stepway 3 models.
  • 2022: Start off Jogger. 10 million vehicles produced since the birth of the Dacia brand in 1968.
  • 2023: Launch of Jogger Hybrid, the first hybrid vehicle to be manufactured in Mioveni, and the new Duster
  • 2024: 8 million vehicles produced in Mioveni since the plant’s inauguration.
