Published on

Renault Twingo E Tech Electric toute la gamme de couleur

New Renault Twingo E-Tech electric steps into the spotlight for its world debut at Le Défilé Renault-The Carwalk Renault™, the brand’s international showcase on the Champs-Élysées in Paris.

The chirpiest city car on the market has kept all of its playful features and invigorating vibe. And it has remained true to its original spirit with its nice price, everyday practicality and gutsy attitude. And there’s more: the city car that shook up its market now comes with the best electric driving experience in its segment and equipment from the segments above. Step in New Twingo and take the tour.

The countdown had barely begun when the flashes started firing at Renault's landmark showcase on the Champs-Elysées, where the media gathered to discover the brand's latest model this Thursday 6 November. On the stage built for the occasion and the circular ramp above it, four New Twingo cars awaited hidden from view by their customary covers. As brass arrangements intertwined with Delinquent Habits' syncopated beat, the drapes dropped and vivid green, red, yellow and black lit up the room. Twingo's instantly recognisable bright smile attracted a lively round of applause.

When it was released in 1992, the first Renault Twingo rewrote the rulebook with its curvy shape, blissful look, driver-friendliness and everyday practicality. Now Twingo E-Tech electric has reinvented the original Twingo spirit with an up-to-the-minute edge – and affordable price.

Gregoire Ginet

« Renault Twingo E-Tech electric will retail at less than €20,000, before incentives. At this competitive price point for an all-electric model, Renault is also packing this car with features and equipment you expect higher up the line – plus it puts a smile on your face! »

Built-in connectivity and Google services: a first on the city-car market

Inside the colourful cabin, the OpenR Link horizontal dual display adds a modern touch that no other car in the segment can match. Renault Twingo design is playful, but its onboard technology is serious! Both trim levels come with a 7-inch digital dashboard displaying information for the driver and a 10-inch central multimedia touch screen.

OpenR Link Integrated Google link (standard on the techno version) is a mainstay in Renault's line-up, simple to use and intuitive – it responds to taps as well as voice with the built-in voice assistant. This feature – which is typically only available in higher-end cars – gives New Twingo a genuine advantage in terms of everyday convenience for the driver as well as passengers.

« Twingo E-Tech electric is Renault’s way of mainstreaming electric vehicles and bringing the switch within reach for the many. To achieve this, Renault Twingo is the first city car on the market to feature a connected multimedia system with Google built-in. Because Google is one of the best tools to make life easier for people in our electric vehicles. »

The host of Google services includes, about 100 apps available from the Google Play catalogue (depending on the market) and the EV route planner in Google Maps – the par excellence travel companion: this GPS system suggests the best route and optimises it continuously taking into account the necessary charging stops, station availability and characteristics, and the charging service provider.

Up to 24 driver assistance systems (ADAS)

Beyond OpenR Link, Renault Twingo E-Tech electric is packed with high-tech safety and comfort amenities.

The queen of the city comes, in particular in the safety and parking pack, with hands-free parking (a first in the segment) and 12 front, side and rear sensors to assist with manoeuvres.

Its 24 driver assistance systems, including rear automatic emergency braking and occupant safe exit alert, rank Renault Twingo E-Tech electric's safety at the top of its class.

« The generous array of driver assistance systems notably includes traffic sign recognition, lane keeping, front sensors with emergency lane keeping, blind spot warning and adaptive cruise control. Behind its joyful demeanour, this city car is packed with technology. »

Renault Twingo, a city car with many amenities from the segment above

Renault Twingo stands out in the city-car (A) segment with its spacious interior, One Pedal function, full LED headlights and daytime running lights and up to 18-inch wheels. Its on-road performance is impressive too thanks to its low weight : it has the same front axle as Renault 4 and 5, its rear axle is an adapted version of Captur's. Not to mention the contribution of the cutting edge AmpR Small platform.

The 2.49-metre wheelbase and bubble-like shape open category-leading space in the rear. Thanks to the clever rear seat sliding mechanism available as standard from the entry-level model, onwards back-seat passengers have up to 160 mm of knee room. The boot can fit up to 360 litres (305 dm3 VDA).

« One Pedal (as standard on Techno version), which you activate from the paddles on the steering wheel, is the most powerful regenerative braking mode. When you release pressure on the accelerator pedal, the vehicle decelerates and comes to the stop – so you don’t have to apply the brakes. It’s useful in traffic jams and at red lights. »
