It’s only fitting that the home of Silicon Valley is at the vanguard of EV adoption in the United States. California is one of the world’s biggest markets for electric vehicles and accounts for 40% of the U.S.’s electric vehicle sales with more than 140,000 EVs on the road.
So what explains the Golden State’s love of EV? It’s 49er spirit? It’s love of high tech? The hippie heritage? Or its strict air quality regulations.
California’s objective by 2025 is that 15% of all cars sold should be electric. We are talking 1.5 million vehicles.
