A true spearhead of the Renault range, Nouveau Captur has reinforced the DNA that has made its success with a second generation with a transformed design. It has also entered a new technological dimension thanks to its rechargeable E-TECH Plug-In Hybrid version. Based on its expertise in electric mobility, Renault is democratizing rechargeable hybrid technology to offer a new driving experience for everyone. This model demonstrates unprecedented versatility: it runs on electric for everyday journeys, and on hybrid without compromise for long weekend or vacation trips.
New Captur E-TECH Plug-in offers a rich panel of equipment dedicated to the safety and comfort of occupants. In particular, it includes numerous driving aids, including the Traffic & Highway Assistant, a level 2 autonomous driving service. It also boasts a 5-star rating in the Euro NCAP safety crash test.
New Captur E-TECH Plug-in Hybrid can run on electricity without consuming fuel on daily weekday trips (up to 65 km in the city) and take the family on weekends or vacations on long trips without worrying about distance. It thus offers a very wide range of use without any compromise.
The E-TECH Plug-in rechargeable hybrid engine consists of a 1.6-liter gasoline engine backed by two electric motors, for a cumulative power of 160 hp. E-TECH technology is based on a series-parallel architecture allowing it to combine the advantages of the different types of hybridization possible (series, parallel and series-parallel). The powertrain manages these engines and their contribution according to possible acceleration and power requirements, as well as battery regeneration opportunities.
Its 160 hp E-TECH Plug-in Hybrid 160 hp engine and its high-capacity battery (9.8 kWh and 400V for a limited weight of 105 kg) offer a range of up to 135 km/h in mixed use (WLTP) and up to 65 km in urban use (WLTP City) with 100% electric power for 50 km.
In order to maximize the autonomy in electric mode, the battery is recharged by plugging it in (between 3 and 5 hours depending on the type of outlet, including domestic). When the battery is discharged, the New Capture E-TECH Plug-in Hybrid works like a “full hybrid” E-TECH model, with all the advantages of this motorization such as systematic starting in electric mode and reduced consumption.
The driving experience behind the wheel of New Captur E-TECH Plug-in Hybrid is based first and foremost on the priority given to the use of electric traction. Since each start is 100% electric, the driving experience is the same as that of an electric vehicle, with instantaneous response to acceleration. Comfort is enhanced on board thanks to the silence of the electric motors. The new Captur E-TECH Plug-in Hybrid provides an excellent level of comfort for all its occupants, while pushing the driving dynamics cursor high.
New Capture E-TECH Plug-in Hybrid has a new MULTI-SENSE mode: the Pure mode which allows to switch to 100% electric mode. In the Sport mode of the MULTI-SENSE, if the battery has enough power, it is possible to combine the three motorizations as allowed by its serial-parallel architecture. Another function called “E-Save” allows you to keep a charge reserve to switch to electric driving at a chosen time, in city centers, for example.
New Captur takes advantage of the Renault CONNECT offer, the gateway to all connected services both inside and outside the vehicle. On board, the connected services linked to navigation (integrated into the Renault EASY LINK multimedia system) include real-time traffic, Google search for destinations or points of interest, fuel prices, automatic updates, etc. From outside the vehicle, the MY Renault mobile application provides door-to-door navigation and specific information, such as the level of recharging. It is possible to program recharging and cabin preheating, as well as to display recharging stations and their availability.
New Capture E-TECH Plug-in Hybrid displays stylistic details specific to this rechargeable hybrid version. E-TECH Plug-in Hybrid” badges are affixed to the trunk door and the central pillar. The fuel tank is located on the left side of the vehicle, and the refill socket on the right side. This has an indicator light that shows the charging status by color: blue (charging), green (charged), amber (standby), red (not charged).
