Created four years ago, the Renault Frères Innovation Trophies aim to foster and celebrate a spirit of innovation within the Group.

On November 6, 2024, the annual ceremony of this internal competition honored recent inventions that enhance the Group's operational efficiency or deliver tangible and relevant value to customers.

Between energy transition, digitalisation, electrification and new competition, the automotive industry is going through unprecedented upheaval in a very short space of time. In a highly volatile technological environment, the ability to innovate is vital if we are to move faster, react faster and keep pace with our customers. This latest edition of the Renault Frères Trophies shows us that the whole company is imbued with this spirit of innovation, adaptability and creativity to meet the new challenges of the automotive sector.

Relive the highlights of the fourth Innovation Awards ceremony :

38 Finalist teams, 9 trophies

With 300 applications from across the company’s countries and sectors, 38 teams reached the finals and 9 trophies were awarded. The awards highlight the power of teamwork and the diverse skills brought together to develop impactful solutions.

The awards were presented to the teams by Jean-Dominique Senard (Chairman of Renault Group's Board of Directors), Luca de Meo, and other top executives. Here is the list of winners by category:

Technology (Gold): Mobilize V2G

Fitted for the very first time on Renault 5 E-Tech Electric, this bidirectional charging system optimizes recharging during off-peak hours and can return energy to the grid during peak times. It enables users to lower costs while reducing grid load when the vehicle is parked.

Technology (Silver): Obelix

Developed collaboratively by Spanish and French teams, Obelix revolutionizes "end-of-factory" logistics by replacing traditional vehicles with an autonomous solution. Automated shuttles bring back conveyors after they have parked the manufactured vehicles in the parking lots of the assembly plants.

Technology (Bronze): E-Tech 4x4 Hybrid Technology

Premiering on the Renault Rafale, this innovation includes 25 new software functions and significant advancements, offering over 100 km of electric-only range and more than 1,000 km in total. It boasts an optimized fuel consumption of 0.5 l/100 km and emissions reduced to just 12 g of CO2/km.

Industry: Plant Connect

This tool centralizes and visualizes key indicators in real-time using data from the industrial metaverse, enhancing decision-making and plant performance.

Quality: MP4AI (Manufacturing Platform 4 AI)

A quality inspection tool using Augmented Intelligence to detect anomalies faster and more effectively on production lines.

Customer Relation: The Dacia Live Rendez-Vous

An innovative customer experience allowing personalized video demonstrations of a new vehicle, even when the car is not yet available in showrooms.

Small & Smart: XR Kitting

Through virtual immersion and digital twins, XR Kitting optimizes the design of storage and part handling areas, improving efficiency and ergonomics in factories.

Transformation: U1st Vision

A modular vehicle designed to provide essential services where they are lacking. Its medical configuration, unveiled at Vivatech in May 2024, transforms into a one-stop mobile health module, offering preventive care, diagnostics, and disease monitoring anytime and anywhere.

Special Jury Prize: Renault Emblème

Showcased at the 2024 Paris Motor Show, the Emblème demo car embodies the brand’s vision for 360° decarbonized mobility. From eco-design and resource selection to manufacturing, use, and end-of-life, Emblème reduces its entire lifecycle CO2E (CO2 Equivalent) emissions by 90% compared to current vehicles.
