Conserve resources

Preserving resources is a key component of our environmental strategy. To reduce our impact and contribute to the circular economy, we are taking action at every stage in the vehicle life cycle. Our approach involves fewer virgin materials, more recycled materials, and the reuse of parts that are then recycled in a closed loop. This is part of our decarbonisation plan.

A strategy comprising 3 stages

To learn more about each key stage

01. Reduce and implement eco-design principles

Conserving resources means primarily using fewer virgin materials in order to reduce the drain on natural resources. Our goal is for our vehicles to include 33% of recycled materials by 2030. We are also seeking to acquire bio-sourced materials such as hemp and flax to reduce our impact. And to improve the recyclability of the vehicle parts that we design.

02. Reuse, repair, recondition

03. Recycle in a closed loop

Developping several loops for recycling materials

We have developed several loops for recycling materials from production offcuts or end-of-life vehicles and reusing them to build new cars. Here are a few examples:

Doing more with less

Renault Group's circular economy strategy relies on its entity specializing in the automotive circular economy – The Future Is NEUTRAL, co-owned with SUEZ – and its dedicated industrial sites, the Refactories, located in France, Spain, and Turkey.
