Operational excellence

Operational Excellence is essential to maintaining competitive edge and quality, both of which are fundamentals in the automotive industry. It supports a sustainable approach to value creation for customers, enabling the company to continuously adapt to changing market conditions while optimising costs.

Based on quality of execution and continuous improvement across the company, operational excellence has three main components:

  • Optimised flows and processes (particularly in the industrial field), based on the principles of "Lean Management",
  • Continuous improvements in performance achieved by digitalising some operations and scaling down low value-added or arduous tasks,
  • Data-driven performance management and decision-support, for rigourous and agile decision-making process and better operational management, through the availability of forecasting data (e.g. predictive maintenance).

Operational Excellence is a multi-disciplinary approach based on tried and tested methods. All phases of the life cycle are addressed to achieve:

  • Robust innovation through project quality assurance, dependability, design reviews and design-to-quality,
  • Industrial production covering all aspects of manufacturing compliance,
  • A production organisation that plans for risk and effectively synchronises flows and activities with support functions,
  • A constant focus on customer satisfaction, in terms of both products and services.

To support “learning by practice'” for operational excellence, ReKnow University organises training courses on key topics (online and at our campuses): Industrial Excellence, Quality System, Digitalisation of operations, Maintenance, etc.
