Boreal Starts Production in Turkey 

Renault Boreal is accelerating its international expansion with the start of production in Bursa, Turkey. This second production hub represents a new milestone for this C-segment SUV. 

Boreal reflects Renault’s ambition to strengthen its international presence and create greater value for its customers, while also supporting the acceleration of electrification through a full hybrid E-Tech powertrain tailored to customer needs. 

In this respect, Boreal fully embraces the “car for living” philosophy at the heart of Renault’s new models, following in the footsteps of the brand’s globally iconic vehicles such as Renault 4, Renault 5 and Clio 6. 

Our history

Oyak Renault – History and Key Milestones 

  • 1969: Establishment of OYAK Renault Automobiles S.A. following a partnership agreement between OYAK and Renault.  
  • 1971: Start of production, positioning the plant as one of the cornerstones of Turkey’s modern automotive industry.  
  • 1980s–1990s: Expansion of passenger vehicle and engine production for both domestic and international markets.  
  • 1998: The plant became Turkey’s leading automotive manufacturer in terms of production and export volumes, a leadership position it maintained for many years.  
  • 2010s: Launch of Clio production, making OYAK Renault one of the flagship production sites for this model.  
  • 2018: Production milestone reached with 6 million vehicles and 5.5 million engines manufactured.  
  • 2020s: Acceleration of investments in hybrid technologies and next-generation vehicles as part of a transformation focused on electrification, digitalization, and efficiency.  
  • 2024: Start of production of the new Renault Duster.  
  • 2025: The milestone of 8 million vehicles produced was reached.  
  • 2026: Start of Clio 6 production and start of Boreal production.
