The Rétromobile show took place from 28 January to 1 February at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. Renault and Alpine turned the spotlight on Clio and A110 respectively with a range of iconic vehicles. Visitors were invited on a journey from the past to the present. In this article, we look at the cars displayed and show how their historical value and popularity is echoed in the ambitions of Renault Group to develop its heritage.
Cars with popular appeal, the DNA of Renault and Rétromobile
Celebrating automotive history since 1976, the Rétromobile Show in Paris is a major annual event not only for the general public, but also for fans, connoisseurs, collectors and club members.
At the 2026 event, Renault Group showcased its rich history and heritage, with some of the most iconic Renault Clio and Alpine A110 models.
The presence of these two Group brands was a noteworthy event, illustrating Renault Group’s major ambitions to celebrate its heritage, as announced in 2025. Alongside the continued development of The Originals Renault Garage network and The Originals Renault Services for Renault classic vehicles, Renault Group has announced the creation of a centre housing the Renault collection in Flins from 2027.

A “Cliorama” retrospective on the Renault stand
Covering an area of over 900 m², the Renault stand was one of the main attractions at the Rétromobile Show.
In a nod to New Renault Clio VI, making its debut this year, the exhibition retraced the history of this model through six generations.
Twelve Clios were on display in five themed sections.
Nouveauté (New) gave visitors an opportunity to (re)discover New Clio full hybrid E-Tech, unveiled last September at the Munich Motor Show.
Competition featured cars developed by Renault Sport. Four exceptional cars were on show, celebrated both for their technical characteristics and their sporting achievements: a 1991 Clio Group A, a Clio II RS Super 1600, a Clio III Cup and a Clio Maxi 'Kit Car'.
Sport featured a Clio II RS 2.0 16V and a Clio Williams, a favourite with fans of Youngtimers.
Saga turned the spotlight on a Clio III R27 F1 Team, an iconic Clio V6 and the popular Clio RT.
While Luxe (Premium) showed once again that Clio has “all the qualities of a larger car”, to quote the celebrated slogan, with the iconic Clio Baccara and Clio V Initiale Paris.
With this skilfully curated selection, the “Cliorama” exhibition immersed visitors in a saga that began in 1990.
An exceptional trio of Alpine A110 vehicles on the Alpine stand
This year marks a turning point for the Alpine brand, with production of the current A110 coming to a definitive end in June.
At Rétromobile, pride of price was logically given to the Alpine A110 with three historic models. An Alpine Berlinette A110 1600 SX, the last first-generation A110 built at Dieppe in 1977, was on show alongside a rally version that took part in the 1975 World Rally Championship.
The French public was also able to admire the most exclusive and most powerful version of the A110: the A110R Ultime. Unveiled at the Munich Motor Show, it is designed as a road-legal sports car, with upgraded aerodynamics, chassis, suspension, braking and transmission. Delivering 345 hp and weighing around 1,100 kg, it will go down in history as the most extreme second-generation A110.
Built in just 110 examples worldwide – already sold out in “La Bleue” version – this superb car is a great way to celebrate the end of the sales career of the current Alpine A110.
The strong presence of Renault and Alpine at the Rétromobile Show reflects the ambitions of Renault Group to bring its history to life and share its vision of the future with the general public.
