When AI boosts team efficiency and creativity

Published on

AI—whether we call it Artificial Intelligence or “Augmented Intelligence”—has permeated all our operations: industry, supply chain, design, engineering, marketing, and after-sales. Gauri Kulkarni, VP IT Corporate Functions at Renault Group, shares her vision of a technology that saves time, enabling us to focus on the smartest tasks. After all, here AI has one sole mission: to amplify the ingenuity of those who know how to harness it.

At Renault Group, we view AI as “Augmented Intelligence”—a lever that redefines our professions and helps us focus on high value-added activities. Rather than replacing human expertise, this technology is meant to strengthen it. “AI and employees must maintain a symbiotic relationship—a partnership that fosters creative approaches to problem-solving,” explains Gauri Kulkarni.

Demystifying AI

We didn’t simply jump on the AI bandwagon; we forged our own path. For example, we developed GenAI@Renault, an internal generative AI tool available to all employees and designed to simplify daily tasks. But tools alone do not drive change. Training our teams to use AI is a priority to fully unlock its potential. Through ReKnow University, we offer an onboarding program designed to clarify the challenges of Artificial Intelligence and encourage its adoption across all our functions. Today, over 50,000 employees have received AI training, 7,000 have deepened their knowledge through an advanced masterclass, and 200 “skippers” are now guiding their colleagues in making the most of these new capabilities.

A digital workplace built for the future

To go further, we launched the DEX (Digital Employee Experience) initiative. Its goal is to offer a personalized, intuitive digital ecosystem that boosts employee productivity. Gone are the days of juggling multiple applications, screens, and interfaces—instead, a seamless experience supports more efficient, faster, and smarter work.

DEX is built on five key pillars:

  • An approach centered on user needs, designing tools and processes that adapt to employees rather than forcing them to adapt.
  • A fluid and intuitive experience aimed at reducing the mental load of switching between systems.
  • Mobile optimization that ensures our applications support productivity even on the go;
  • Seamless integration with existing solutions to avoid unnecessary complexity and ensure optimal interoperability.

Continuous improvement driven by digital usage analysis, constantly refining and enhancing the user experience.

Using IA intelligently

Once the right tools are in place and the potential of AI is mastered, it becomes possible to intelligently delineate task allocation. AI takes over tedious operations: “One of our employees with ADHD found that AI significantly lightened her workload. She gains time and peace of mind in her daily routine,” recounts Gauri Kulkarni.

Artificial intelligence thus provides employees with more time and freedom to do what only they can do when working alongside it: refocusing on creativity and generating new ideas.

And that is where the full potential of Augmented Intelligence lies: empowering our talents to achieve higher performance by freeing their minds from the most constraining tasks. By placing people at the heart of the equation, we turn AI into an accelerator of innovation.
