Acknowledge the site's level of excellence, promote French made high-tech, and embrace a company legacy that looks proudly into the future: this is the meaning behind the new name of the historic Alpine plant in Dieppe, now known as the ‘Manufacture Alpine Dieppe Jean Rédélé’. The announcement was made by Luca de Meo, CEO Renault Group, in the presence of Laurent Rossi, CEO Alpine, during a visit Bruno Le Maire's made to the Normandy-based site. It was an opportunity for the French Minister of the Economy, Finance, and Recovery to discover and also commend the ambitious projects set in motion by Renault Group and the plant.

Over the past twelve months, Alpine has succeeded in setting a new dynamic in motion and upholding its commitments. It can be seen today in Dieppe where the future Alpine GT X-Over will be made, thus giving a clear vision of the future and solid prospects for the historic, industrial site. Alpine's ambition must remain high, where only the most passionate strive to be, those driven by the quest to attain perfection. This level of excellence must be like oxygen for Alpine.

Luca de Meo, CEO Renault Group

Alpine's future GT X-Over, a hallmark of excellence for the brand

It's official! The Manufacture Alpine Dieppe Jean Rédélé will make Alpine’s upcoming all-electric GT X-Over, with production expected to start in 2025. The new model will combine Alpine's expertise in racing and its renowned level of excellence in sports vehicles with Renault Group's experience in electric vehicles and batteries.

Alpine's history is legendary! Its unique heritage can be seen in car racing with the equally legendary A110, and the future holds strong ambitions for the brand and its products. The announcement of the upcoming GT X-Over being made at the Manufacture Alpine Dieppe Jean Rédélé is proof that the future is being written in a location of historical importance for Renault.”

Laurent Rossi, Alpine CEO

The model will be built on the Alliance’s modular CMF-EV platform that was originally designed for electric vehicles and already used by Renault for the All-new Mégane E-TECH Electric. The platform will be reworked so that Alpine's future GT X-Over will be perfectly in line with the brand’s values of agility and sportiness. It will be fitted with cutting-edge technology – some of which are used in Formula 1 – and will be given special attention when it comes to the quality of manufacturing. Alpine's ambition is to use this model to compete with the big names in the world of sports cars.

The Alpine GT X-Over project will be an inspiration for Renault Group. It will help thrust the company into the future, taking it to greater heights. With Alpine, we are going to make electric cars that are full of emotion and advanced technology. This is Alpine's mission: to bring emotion to the future of automotives.”

Luca de Meo

Along with two other models – a smaller one based on the CMF-BEV platform like the upcoming electric Renault 5 and the new iteration of the A110 – the Alpine GT X-Over will complete Alpine’s all-electric ‘dream garage’.

An unprecedented agreement for greater competitiveness

During his visit, Bruno Le Maire spoke with operators, inquiring about their professional background and the training they received upon joining Alpine. The Minister also met with union representatives. In March 2021, they signed the CAP 2024 performance agreement, which includes aspects pertaining to greater levels of competitiveness for Renault Group and a section devoted to skills that are required to accommodate the arrival of the all-electric GT X-Over by 2025. "With it, we are going to play in the big league, just like in Formula 1! We are going to address a clientele of enthusiasts and we will offer them something absolutely perfect," said Luca de Meo.

The project is part of the ‘Re-Nouveau France 2025’ plan that was unveiled in December 2021 and which places France at the heart of the Group's industrial and technological activities, highlighted by the fact that nine new models will be made in factories located throughout France.

Legacy driven by passion

The announcement, along with the unveiling of its new name, has made the Dieppe Jean Rédélé Alpine Manufacture a symbol of French innovation and manufacturing. The site is as unique as Renault Group itself, symbol of Alpine ambitious development plans and the various projects that will carry the historical site into the future – a site that now bears the name of its founder.

Motorsport enthusiast, designer, and skilled driver, Jean Rédélé founded Alpine in 1955. Designed off the 4CV, its sporty, compact, and lightweight coupes very quickly made a name for themselves in races. With a strong track record, Alpine has built up its legend on both the track and open road, earning a legitimate reputation for its sports models. With success came growing demand, and Alpine officially joined forces with Renault in 1965 to maintain its upward trend. The Dieppe factory was built in 1969.

In the automotive world, a brand’s soul is to be found in its roots. That's why we decided to name this factory after its founder, Jean Rédélé. A Dieppe local, consummate enthusiast and connoisseur. Dieppe was, is, and will remain the heart of Alpine.”
