On Thursday 5 March, Groupe Renault was recognised at the first Trophées de la Mixité dans l’auto et la mobilité (diversity awards in the automotive and mobility fields). At the Trophées de la Mixité dans l’auto et la mobilité (diversity awards in the automotive and mobility fields), five prizes were awarded to key players in the sector. Tristan Lormeau, HR Director, Renault France, won the first of the evening. Groupe Renault received gender equality pay index award. This index is calculated each year, for all businesses with over 50 employees, using indicators such as pay, increments and parity*. The company was also nominated for the Trophée Féminisation Globale (global female inclusion award).

Our aim is to continue our progress towards female inclusion at Groupe Renault because it’s a key lever in our Diversity & Inclusion policy.

The ceremony was organised by WAVE (WoMen and Vehicles in Europe), a Renault partner since its inception in 2008. Its purpose is to promote women’s awareness of jobs in the automotive and mobility industry. In 2019, women still only accounted for 12% of employees in the sector. According to WAVE, increasing diversity means extending the range of talent and putting different and complementary female traits to good use.

The prize received by Tristan Lormeau bears witness to the importance Renault ascribes to gender diversity at Head Office and in the plants and dealerships. Diversity is a source of both richness and performance.

With this in mind, 10 years ago, Renault launched Women@Renault, an HR action plan designed to improve the representation of women at every level in the company.  This representation has continually increased over the last few years. Women now represent almost a quarter of the workforce.

Women@Renault is also a diverse, international in-house social network which aims to change attitudes. The 5,000 member-strong network (including 25% males) enables discussion to find the best diversity solutions. In short, it’s a collaborative and non-confrontational approach to pushing the boundaries.

Encouraging vocations through testimonials

Formed in 2005, the Elles Bougent association aims to introduce engineering and technical jobs to female school, sixth-form and university students and to demonstrate that these supposedly male jobs are accessible to them.

The association has more than 5,000 “godmothers” in France including almost 200 at Renault. They undertake to meet these young people in forums and site visits, and at special shows, rallies and conferences.

In 2018, for example, Elles Bougent invited 150 sixth-formers and students on an exclusive visit to the Paris Motor Show. On the Renault stand they were introduced to the ZOE and the EZ-ULTIMO concept car before having talks with their godmothers.
