“Dacia Spring makes electric mobility even more accessible”

Published on

Why can the Dacia Spring be considered revolutionary?

We have taken the elements that make Dacia so successful and applied them to the world of the 100% electric car. This is the third innovation that the brand has brought to the automotive industry; having already revolutionized the new car market with Logan, and the SUV market with Duster. Dacia Spring carries a simple and reliable motor with 33 kW of power (equivalent to 44 hp), capable of bringing this versatile and practical city car to life, both in and outside the city.

Thanks to its abilities, this model suits a wide range of motorists who’ll be able to discover electric driving at an unbeatable price: Dacia Spring is the least expensive electric city car for purchase on the market. On top of this, there’s the reduced cost of recharging (compared to filling up the tank with fuel.) And the advantages of an electric motor are numerous: no engine noise, no gear shifting, instant response to acceleration etc.

The new Spring is the ideal complement to the Dacia family thanks to its 100% electric motor and its compact four-seater build.

In what ways can the Groupe Renault’s electric expertise be found on Dacia Spring?

The creation of Dacia Spring drew on over a decade of Groupe Renault’s experience in electric vehicles. The brand has continuously improved the motors, batteries and equipment of its electric cars, with a grand capacity for innovation and streamlining, and has a network of electric specialist partners. This benefits all the group’s brands, including Dacia.

Groupe Renault has also brought its expertise to Dacia Spring in terms of new mobility modes. In addition to the version for private individuals, a variant for car sharing will soon be available. As a leading car manufacturer in electric car sharing — producing 60% of electric shared cars in Europe, and operating a car sharing service with ZITY — the Group is well aware of the requirements for this short-term rental method. It requires a simple, practical and robust vehicle: a bill of specifications that Dacia Spring more that fits!

How were the look and equipment of Spring designed to retain the qualities of simplicity, robustness and practicality that Dacia is known for?

Stepping inside Dacia Spring, the spaciousness, worthy of a small sedan, is surprising — not to mention its trunk capacity, the largest in its class. Its SUV look, reliability and safety features further contribute to its robustness.

Like all Dacia models, this first electric vehicle stands out thanks to the simplicity of its offer: basically, a battery is included in the purchase price, and two types of fittings are available. Dacia Spring is guaranteed for 3 years and 100,000 kilometers for all parts, and 8 years and 120,000 kilometers for the battery. It also benefits from reduced mechanical wear; a characteristic common to all electric cars. Its charging versatility allows the driver to recuperate range on a simple domestic socket, a high-intensity charging device like a Wallbox (usually in private spaces), a public fast charging terminal on alternating current (on the street and in mall parking lots, for example) or even a rapid charging station on DC (along major roads.)

On a practical level, its ranges of 225 kilometers on the Complete WLTP* cycle (for mixed journeys) and 295 kilometers on the WLTP* City cycle (for urban journeys) make it suitable for those who want to switch to electric without compromising on versatility. The standard equipment, like the speed limiter, ABS, ESP, Hill Start Assist and automatic emergency braking, have been designed to help the driver in every possible situation.

*WLTP = Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure. The WLTP City cycle refers to the urban part of a standardized cycle. The Complete WLTP cycle is the standardized cycle. It consists of 57% urban driving, 25% suburban driving and 18% highway driving.
