Virtuous by nature, Mobilize Duo is Mobilize's answer to the challenge of energy transition. This small size electric vehicle with zero exhaust CO₂ emissions is composed of 40% recycled materials and is 95% recyclable. The efforts of the teams involved - purchasing, design, engineering, manufacturing to reduce the vehicle’s carbon footprint have indeed focused... - have indeed focused on every stage of the car's life cycle :

Our roadmap was to design an environmentally friendly mobility object that could fit into the urban landscape. From the outset, we opted for a two-seater electric vehicle - a quadricycle - a lightweight vehicle with a small footprint

An eco-designed vehicle

This small vehicle - Mobilize Duo or Bento in its cargo version - has had its decarbonization objectives assigned to it from the outset. The program teams opted for sobriety from the outset: by limiting the number of parts used, which in turn limits the emissions linked to their manufacture, facilitates their reconditioning and guarantees the vehicle's durability. The front and rear fascias are strictly identical, as are the rocker panels, which can be fitted on either side. All in all, Duo has five times fewer parts than a traditional car.

Moreover, preference was given to recycled materials, which have a lower carbon footprint than virgin materials. The result: just over 40% of the car's mass is made up of materials from the circular economy. That's twice as much as a conventional electric vehicle! “The production of all Duo and Bento parts and components generates 66% fewer greenhouse gases than an A-segment electric vehicle,” explains Corinne Pakey.

Several material loops have been implemented on Mobilize Duo and Bento, such as steel and plastic. The main body parts, such as bumpers, fenders and wheel arches, are made from 60% recycled polymers. Half of which was sourced from end-of-life vehicles (ELVs) thanks to the teams at The Future Is NEUTRAL, Renault Group's circular economy entity.

Two other loops of recycled materials are glazing and steel. Indeed, the car's structure is made up of 60% recycled steel from supplier Maghreb Steel, close to the Tangiers manufacturing plant where the various versions of Mobilize Duo are assembled.

A vehicle produced in a close to net zero carbon plant

The plant, 90% of whose energy needs are supplied by renewable energy - wind and biomass - is moving towards net zero carbon, contributing to the decarbonization of Duo during this production phase. The absence of paint on the vehicle is also part of this approach, as the painting process is particularly energy-intensive, representing on average 40% of a factory's energy consumption!

Zero exhaust emissions and recyclability

Thanks to its electric motorization, Duo does not emit any CO₂ in its exhaust. The car is also highly recyclable, at 95%, the recyclability of its parts and materials having been thought through from the outset, at its design stage.

In addition to all these features that make it a virtuous vehicle by nature, Mobilize Duo and its various versions also present a significant financial advantage for their users with an entry price of around 9,000 euros, thus participating in the democratization of electric cars in our territories.
