Tangier Plant

Inaugurated on 09 February 2012 by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Tangier plant has become a catalyst for the transformation of the entire Moroccan automotive industry. From the moment it was designed, as part of a partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco, Renault and Veolia Environnement, this industrial site has revolutionised the world of the automotive industry by being both zero-carbon and zero industrial liquid waste.

News

Dacia Jogger hybrid 140: the first hybrid vehicle to be assembled in Tangiers

In 2024, the Tangiers plant will start production of the new Dacia Jogger. This is the first hybrid vehicle to be assembled in Tangiers. This industrialisation in a very short space of time has enabled the teams to successfully meet a number of challenges: processes specific to hybrid technology, a significant increase in qualifications for all employees.

Our history
Back to the key dates
  • 2007: On 1 September, the protocol of intent for the creation of the Renault Tangier Mediterranean plant was signed in the presence of HM King Mohamed VI.
  • 2008: on 16 January, Renault Tanger Méditerranée was created and an agreement was signed with the Moroccan authorities to create a training centre dedicated to the automotive sector.
  • 2010: stamping building first pole and Renault Nissan Tanger Green plant reveal in June; 1st Industrial process entry into the industrial buildings stamping in september.
  • 2011: inauguration of the Institute for vocational training in the automotive industry Tanger-Med in March; plant handover and entry of the new vehicle to plant Lodgy in July.
  • 2012: start of production for Lodgy in january and revealed on the occasion of the plant inauguration by King Mohamed VI ; Start of production of Dokker & Dokker Van in May.
  • 2013: start of production of Sandero and Sandero Stepway.
  • 2016: Renault Group Morocco receives its suppliers in Tangier & signs agreements with the government to strenghten its ecosystem.
  • 2017: 1,000,000 vehicles manufactured at the Renault plant in Tangier.
  • 2018: new annual production record with 318,600 vehicles product on Renault Tangier site's lines.
  • 2020: Launch of the production of the 3rd generation of Sandero.
  • 2021: Inauguration of the 1st High Speed stamping press line in Africa; launch of Renault Express Van.
  • 2022: the Renault Group Tangiers plant celebrates its 10th anniversary in September and announces the launch of a new Duo electric vehicle.
  • 2023: Announcement of the first hybrid vehicle in the Dacia range, Jogger Hubrid 140
